A message from WGF’s Executive Director Meleesa Johnson and Board President Tom Jerow:

The Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame (WCHF) showcases Wisconsin’s strong conservation ethic and legacy.

Wisconsin’s Green Fire (WGF) is a voting member organization of the WCHF. Every year, we vote to help grow and diversify that conservation legacy. Earlier this month, we attended WCHF’s voting session representing WGF. At that meeting, we voted to select which nominees should be inducted into the hall of fame in 2025.

The 2025 inductees are:

  1. J. Baird Callicott
  2. David Carlson
  3. Robert Freckmann

We would also like to highlight two honorable mentions:

  1. Keith McCaffery
  2. Katherine Rill

On behalf of WGF, we would like to congratulate the inductees as well as the honorable mention nominees. This has never been done before by the WCHF or WGF. As Tom said recently, “just being nominated is an honor.”

WGF members shine in the hall of fame.

We’re proud to have multiple inductees in the WCHF in our community of Wisconsin’s Green Fire: Voices for Conservation. Among the honorable mentions this year, we’re proud to count Keith McCaffery as a member of our Science Council.

More information about the 2025 inductees will be coming out soon from the WCHF.

Biographical information and photos of the inductees will be shared by the WCHF in the coming weeks. The formal induction ceremony will be in April 2025.

Do you know someone who you believe should be nominated for 2026?

Contact us! The nomination period begins in January.

Sincerely,

Meleesa Johnson, WGF Executive Director

Tom Jerow, WGF Board President
