Mary Ellen Vollbrecht
Mary Ellen’s professional career was devoted to diverse water resources management challenges especially invisible impacts of aquatic habitat loss, natural hazard risk and groundwater contamination. She held staff, management and executive positions over 30 years at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) as well as with national and international organizations. She holds a BS in Botany and an MS in Water Resources Management from UW-Madison. Since retiring from DNR in 2016, Mary Ellen spends time bicycle touring, helping people vote – and advocating for strong water action in Wisconsin.
