Dr. Patty Loew

Dr. Patty Loew is an award-winning author, professor in the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, retired journalist in public and commercial television, and an enrolled citizen of Mashkiiziibii, the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. Patty is an outspoken advocate for the rights of Wisconsin’s tribal communities and has led the Tribal Youth Media Initiative since 2006, a digital media project to support the next generation of Native American storytellers and land stewards. She has written four books, including Indian Nations of Wisconsin: Histories of Endurance and Renewal and Native People of Wisconsin, and has produced many documentaries on Ojibwe treaty rights and cultural sovereignty.
