This was our big Northwoods event of the year, and it was a dream come true! As we heard again and again, it felt “so good to get the gang back together.” It was a special treat to reconnect in-person on such a beautiful summer evening, share stories, and celebrate our collective passion for conservation in Wisconsin. Among all the familiar faces, we were thrilled to make so many new connections and meet new friends, too!
If this event inspired you, please make a gift today to support our work. Thank you!

Teamwork and an impressive community of supporters made this event possible.
- We’re grateful for Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua and Friends of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore for working with us to organize this big event. Thanks to Jim and Joy Perry for sponsoring this event, and to the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation for their support.
- Thanks to Fat Radish for the fabulous meal and to South Shore Brewery for the excellent donated beer. Thanks to Big Lake Organics for helping us make our dinner celebration a near-zero-waste event.
- Kudos to Fred Clark for leading our presentation on “Natural Climate Solutions.” We cherish this opportunity to share examples from around Wisconsin on how our friends and partners are working to mitigate, adapt, and stay resilient to climate change.
- Much applause and thanks to Warren Nelson and the Blue Canvas Orchestra for the incredible concert Song for the Wild, inspired by the words and life of Sigurd Olson. We’ll be singing the wolf howling song for a long time into the future!
- Most of all, our heartfelt thanks to YOU for celebrating with us and being the Voices for Conservation.
This event was just one example of how we’re celebrating and widening our circle of supporters. To all our supporters, from major donors in our WGF Stewardship Society who give over $1,000 annually, to those who give $10 or $50, thank you for making this work possible. To the natural resources and conservation experts who volunteer with Wisconsin’s Green Fire, we literally could not do this work without you. Together, as a community of people who care about clean water, clear air, rich biodiversity, and healthy ecosystems, we’re making a difference in Wisconsin!
Please send us your feedback about the event. If you did not get one of the keepsake cards, let us know, and we’ll get one to you!
